National Race for the Cure®
Since assuming the organization and management of the National
Race for the Cure® in 1994, H&A increased participation
from 12,000 runners in 1994 to more than 65,000 participants
in 1999, with more than $1.8 million in grants distributed, making
it the largest 5K run/walk in the world. H&A devised and
implemented strategies to raise more money, increase participation,
involve Members of Congress, the Administration and the diplomatic
community, enhance and increase media exposure, and integrate
the Race into Washington's diverse community. H&A organized
all aspects of the National Race for the Cure® and its auxiliary
events, outreach and education efforts, and corporate sponsorship
programs. H&A also conducted extensive media outreach for
the National Race for the Cure®, which resulted in millions
of dollars in unpaid visibility on NBC's "Today," CNN,
ABC's "Turning Point," local and network television
news, and local and national newspapers and magazines
